DayOne is the case coordination site in KaneCounty for individuals of all ages with development needs.  Contact them for:

  • Early Intervention services if your child is between birth and three years old and you have concerns about their development.  (Select the Child & Family Staff Directory, and then press 0 to connect to the operator.)
  • PUNS (Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services) to schedule an in-take or find out about services and supports for your child with special needs of any age.  (Select the Developmental Disabilities Staff Directory, and then press 0 to connect to the operator.)
  • Respite financial and agency provider information.  (Select the Developmental Disabilities Staff Directory, and then press 0 to connect to the operator.)  For areas other than KaneCounty call 1-800-843-6154.

DSCC is able to provide financial assistance for children with a treatable chronic condition that is deemed medically necessary. Contact them to find out if your child is eligible for coverage. Visit their website for a wonderful list of statewide resources.

STARNET stands for support and technical assistance regionally for families and professionals involved in the lives of children birth through eight with an emphasis on children with special needs.  They facilitate free workshops, have an extensive lending library, and employ resource specialist to answer your questions.

 NICHCY serves as the national source for information on special education and children with disabilities.  They offer free publications including fact sheets regarding specific diagnoses, state resources, parent guides, resource lists, and much more.  NICHCY also employs information specialists to answer your questions.
